We at Ready Steady Autos do not believe in confusing you with several fees. We simply charge you one fee for listing your item and that is all.

Yes that is correct - you only pay an insertion fee and nothing else!

Although we offer additional options / functionalities to facilitate you and your sale; the ability to add a reserve price to your item, re-list your item (up to 10 times) and upload up to 10 photos (to mention just a few) we do not charge you for any of these.  Yes they are FREE.

Just one fee to list your item and nothing else.

We do not even charge you any “End of Auction” or “Final Value” fees. Yes that is correct; when your item has sold successfully you will NOT be charged any extra.

We also offer a reduction in this listing fee to regular users of our site. If you are interested in this, please contact us.

You must be at least 16 years old to register.

When registering you will be asked to complete a short form.

Mandatory fields include:-

• Full Name
• House No. / Name and Street
• Town / City
• County
• Post Code
• Phone Number
• D.O.B
• Username
• Password
• E-Mail address
• Confirmation of terms and conditions acceptance

You username will be used throughout the site to identify you.  This will be visible to any other users of the site, whether you are trading with them or not.

By completing the registration process and accepting the terms and conditions you agree to allow all personal information that you provide to be made available to your trading partner(s). This will include (but is not limited to) your full name, email address, postal address and phone number.

Passwords are case sensitive and must contain between 6 and 18 characters.  We recommend using a long password that has a mixture of letters, numbers and special characters.

Direct payment settings are NOT a mandatory requirement.  You ONLY need to fill these in if you want buyers to be able to pay YOU for items directly through the site. If you prefer to receive payment via offline payment methods (such as a bankers draft or cheque) then you do not need to provide any direct payment details. If you choose not to setup direct payments at the time you register, you may do so later via the Members Area under "Manage Account"

Once registered you will receive an e-mail confirmation.

To list your item simply click on the “Sell” button on the header navigational bar or the “Sell” link which is at the bottom of every page. The listing process is split up into several main sections, notably:

• Category selection
• Item Details
• Settings
• Shipping and Payment
• Preview
• Finish

The listing process is developed in such a way that you are guided through every step seamlessly. Your choices can be revised at any time, if you want to revise something you have entered on a previous page, you can do so by using the “Previous Step” navigation button.

Category selection

The first part of the process is to choose the category that you are going to list your item in. If you would like to suggest a category for us to incorporate into the site, you may do this here by clicking the appropriate link. You can also suggest a category to us at any time through the suggest a category segment of the “Selling” section in the “Members Area”.

Item Details

On the item details page you first need to choose your listing type. There are 2 types:

• Full Listing - Standard auction item that bids can be placed on. You can add a reserve price and also include a "Buy Now" price if you want to.

• Buy Now Item - Create a “Buy Now” only item. No bids will be able to be placed.

This page is also where you enter details about your vehicle. We suggest that you provide as much information as you can in the item title and description areas and complete all the pre-filled fields so that you give potential buyers as much information as possible. Please use the “Known Defects” section to note any dents, scratches or any defects / issues that the vehicle may have.

If you have a voucher code to redeem this can be entered in the “Vouchers Settings” section which is at the end of this page.

Settings

On the Settings page you can set the following:

• Auction type – You can choose either a standard auction (this is a single quantity auction, i.e. 1 car) or dutch auction (a dutch auction enables you to list a multiple quantity auction).

• Currency - You can select your preferred auction currency using the drop down menu available (GBP is the only option currently available).

• Quantity - This field is only active if listing a dutch auction.

• Auction Starts At - This requires you to enter the minimum bid you are willing to accept, you can also set a reserve price to ensure you do not sell the item for this amount. Please see below for more information on this.

• Reserve Price - Enabling a reserve price affectively means you will not sell the item for less than the reserve amount set, for example you can set the start price at £50.00 and the reserve price at £500.00 (which means that you will only accept winning bids of £500.00 or more) should a bid be placed for £499.99 the item will close without a winner. We do not charge you extra for adding a reserve to your item.

• Buy Now – “Buy Now” allows you to set an amount you are willing to sell the item for straight out. For example you can set the start price to £100.00 but offer interested parties the option to buy the item immediately for £1000.00. You can also place a reserve price on your item when using the “Buy Now” option. We do not charge you extra for adding a buy now price to your item. You can also list “Buy Now” only auctions, these auctions remove all bidding options meaning the listing can only be purchased for a set amount. This option is set in the “Listing Type” field on the previous page.

• Offer Range - You can set a price bracket in which you are willing to consider offers, for example, if you set the price brackets from 500.00 to 600.00 interested parties will be able to offer you an amount within these brackets, you can opt whether to accept or decline these offers at any time via the open auctions table in the “Selling” section of the “Members Area”. We do not charge you extra for adding an offer range to your item.

• Bid increment – Our default bid increments are as per the table below. If you would prefer to not use these, you may set your own customised bid increments here. We do not charge you extra for adding your own customised bid increments to your item.

Placing a bid on an item you are interested in couldn’t be easier, when viewing the item details page (having clicked on the items title for more information) you will have two areas from where you can place your bid, one next to the summary of the items details (on the left) and a second after the full items details (at the bottom of the page).

To place your bid simply enter the amount you wish to bid (e.g. enter 50.00 if you want to bid £50.00). Please note no currency symbols are required.

You will be asked to review your bid and you will also be able to view vital item details such as the postage and insurance conditions and the delivery and payment methods before confirming your bid. To submit your bid simply press the “Place Bid” button.

If your bid is high enough to take the lead in the auction a confirmation message will be displayed to you, however if your bid has not taken the lead, be it due to a higher proxy bid or not meeting the reserve price you will be invited to make a further bid.

The site uses “proxy bidding”.  Proxy bidding allows you to place a “highest amount you are willing to pay” bid.  At all times you will only pay the lowest required bid should you win the auction. For example, if the minimum amount that can be bid on an auction item is £500.00 you can place a proxy bid of £2000.00, should you remain the only bidder you will only pay £500.00. However should the item receive other bids the site will automatically re-bid for you (up to £2000.00 in this scenario) to ensure you remain in the lead.  Please note that sellers can set there own bid increments when listing items for sale, so the default bid increments will not always be used.  The default bid increments are:

The “Watch This Item” feature lets you keep a close eye on any auction without having to place a bid on it. This feature means you can be kept up to date on how an auction is doing and prepares you to place a winning last minute bid. You can watch any auction by clicking on the “Watch This Item” link on any auction page.

You can see all the items that you are currently watching in the “Watched Items” table in the “Bidding” section of the Members Area.

If the option is available you can use “Buy Now” to purchase the item immediately without having to place a bid. Some sellers offer such an option which can be used at any time until a bid has been placed over any applicable reserve price.

The “Buy Now” option will appear on the item details page, you will be asked to confirm your intention to buy the item before the sale is concluded.
